Dono what to blog, nothing interesting happened here, so i decided to write crap on books i just read..
'Shopaholic and Sister' by Sophie Kinsella,
good book i must say, lots of funny and touching moments.. it urges me to read thru the previous books before this one.. I am so going to get the latest one 'the undomestic goddess'
This is about a shopaholic - Becky (obviously) who found out that she had a long lost sister.. After her sweet marriage, she and her hubby had gone on honeymoon for 1 year to lots of places. When she finally got back home, her best friend had changed (being used to not having her around + busy with her kids), and nearly got into trouble when a future client of her hubby (who has a criminal record and disapproves of him) did her a favour by getting her an ANGEL BAG - cutting queue (some branded good, limited and precious.. like hermes birkins... long waiting list) because he is once of their regulars. In return, when they met much later, he wanted to engaged her hubby as his PR consultant - where she promise immediately without consulting because of the ANGEL bag not knowing he was black listed by her husband.
Her hobby is purely shopping, she shipped lots and lots of merchandise like wooden giraffes, huge dining tables when she's travelling without her husband's knowledge. So, when they finally came back to their apartment, there were 2 lorries carrying her goods......, she promised to go on budget, she promised to surrender every credit card, she promised to resume work asap...
Coming back wasn't as good as she expected, her best friend had another "best friend", her parents were acting as weird as ever...
finally, they break the ice and told her that she had a sister. she was so thrilled! thinking of those girly stuff they could do together, she even bought her a tiffany necklace...
the bad news was... her sister hates shopping!
and is very very very thrifty. Normal tees and jeans, carrying knapsack all day round. Insists on eating lots of potatoes(cheap), drinking her own coffee in a 2nd hand flask she brought along in her knapsack when they went to a cafe...
Her sister wasn't looking for another family, it is solely because she felt that she has the responsibility to inform her father on some sort of disease that runs in the family to make sure they are aware. She's a very reserved person, and finally Becky burst. (she was trying to be very polite and courteous, but her sis just couldn't fit in)
Her husband was forced to do the PR job because of the stupid favour and was mad at her. In anger, he told her to learn from her sister (her sis helped them in some sort of computer presentation + earns good impression).
She was sad and alone. To save her marriage, she decided to go all the way north to her sister's hometown to apologize and LEARN FROM HER as what her hubby says.
It ended up very funny - as her sister doesn't care if they are sisters or not, because she just got a name, there was no scientific proof that they are REAL sisters.. Accidentally she went to her room, saw a rack where her sis puts her precious stones (stone-lover) and it is similar to her shoe rack (wth??) and she is so convinced they are sisters she went up the hills where her sis is hiking with some others to tell her the news.
Unfortunately, she fall down somewhere, and of course her sis came to the rescue. And there they were, unable to move because of the heavy rain, then she gave her sis the tiffany necklace and her sis was smiling so broadly she just can't stop.
Then, she passed out. It turns out that the client wasn't a bad on after all, it's a good track record for her husband's biz. He was just sheltering his staff, and in defense, he went too far ...
Well.. alls well ends well...
but the little bits in the novel really is funny/touching..
